Life is going to pass them by.

Matt:  Welcome to Your Do Over, coming to you live from downtown Los Angeles. This is the place where I show people who want more out of life, people dissatisfied with their current situation, how to start over and begin a new life, setting goals and objectives so they can create wealth and live life to the fullest.

You can jumpstart your Do Over and lay a solid foundation for a better life by downloading the Three Pillars of Creating the Ultimate Do Over for free at FreeDoOver.com. It’s a 55-minute mp3 audio program that I made just for you with three specific steps on how to get success as you start over.

The Three Pillars of Creating the Ultimate Do Over will put the legs under your table. They will lay the foundation for you to achieve. They will act as your traveling success coach, and they’re yours for free at FreeDoOver.com.

Now, this past week, I sent out a survey to my email list asking a specific question.  What are the three biggest challenges you are currently facing in your Do Over?  And the answers I received were surprising but then they weren’t.  Initially, there were somewhat surprising because I have covered about every topic of what’s ailing those of you that responded.  Your answers lie literally within Episodes 1 to 30.  But then I got to thinking and actually then I wasn’t surprised because as I frequently have experiences where I hear something.

I mean I might read it.  I might hear it from an associate or at a seminar.  I might see it on TV or I hear from a friend or from a family member.  I mean something that’s good for me is what I mean, something that would actually make a difference if I were just to listen.  If I had learned and I will apply it like if I would just do it.  But so often, I mean, there apparently goes over my head.  I mean essentially in one year out the other.  And typically it’s only a hindsight that allows me to see this but then I hear it from a different source or in a different way, or maybe just at a different time where it actually click so I get it.

I see that very clearly for the outside looking in the survey, as most of the responses were very detailed and they were involved so there’s a very exciting opportunity right now for me, in which I get to dig deeper within myself.  I get to reach out to other people within my network.  I get to consume additional material and learn new things but most of all what I’m excited about is that I get to customized the show.

I get to customized so to speak and focus on exactly what you want to hear as opposed to what I thought you wanted to hear or I thought you needed to hear.  So I’m very excited about the next few months and after I’ll go ahead and check back in with you again.  And see where we stand.  Having said that, feel fee to contact and interact with me in the meantime like many of you are already been doing.  You can do this by simply sending me an email to [email protected].  I believe I’ve completely caught up by the way like I had responded to every email I’ve received.  If I missed yours by chance just send it again.  If I didn’t respond, it was only because I didn’t see it.

So in this survey “Inquiring About Your 3 Biggest Challenges,” I mean there was 5 major areas that really stood out.  The five major areas that are vey common among the 100+ people that responded.  And they stood out in a big way.  Money that was a big one or the lack thereof I should say.  You know, whether money to pay the bills or the extra money needed to pursue your passion or the actual capital investments to fund your projects.  I’m glad I did this survey because I was thinking that I covered a little bit too frequently on this show because money is important to me.  But I understand that it is not as important to other people as it is to me.  I am well aware money is not everything but it certainly makes everything a whole lot more easy and a whole lot more enjoyable.

So money was a big one for you.  Spousal and family support that was a biggie.  Support for you to pursue your passion.  That was just another big area of concern for many of you.  Whether it was form your spouse or your family or your friends or your immediate network.  So we will talk about that as well.

Time management was a significant challenge in many of your Do Over along with procrastination that came up quite a bit.  Also, not knowing what to do in your Do Over or what to do next inside of your Do Over.  Paralysis by analysis that was interesting. There were 17 people of which responded to the survey, almost 20% that actually used that term, paralysis by analysis.  We’re going to cover all of those over the next few months.

Personally, I’ll touch on each subject but I’m going to bring in people from my network to touch on those as well.  As I’m aware that in fact I’m very aware that I don’t know everything.  There’s a whole lot that I don’t know but I know people that know a lot more than me.  I know people that have specialize knowledge in certain areas where I might be just a generalist.  So I know some great money minds that I’ll invite to the show and they’ll share with you.

I know a fantastic time management procrastination of which I’ll invite to the show.  Those are just a couple that I can think off the top of my head but I’m going to dig deep in my network.  I’m going to pull together my resources. I’m going this next few months really, really, really amazing.  Among the other topics that ails you: consistency, relationships, weight loss, finding a job, overwhelm, finding your life purpose, clearing clutter, that showed up quite a few times both figuratively and literally, in finding clients and networking and establishing a plan of action.

Maintaining one’s energy, that was a biggie for some of you and fear.  That showed up in many different forms, and faith and self-confidence.  We’re going to cover all of it over the next few months.  We’re going to cover all from many different angles and perspectives.

But hands down, the biggest challenge you are facing in your Do Over according to this survey.  The biggest challenge you are facing is staying motivated and staying focused.  You’re being distracted by negative thoughts and pessimism, and staying enthusiastic on what you’re up to in life.

You see, losing your motivation or losing your focus or losing your enthusiasm or struggling with negative thoughts.  They are all symptoms of where you are currently standing in life. Typically, you’re standing in a space between belief and disbelief or trust and distrust, or certainty or uncertainty.  Whatever word for it, that word is doubt.

Doubt brings in the questions, some notions of a perceived reality.  Doubt may involve delaying or rejecting relevant action out of concerns for mistakes or falls or appropriateness.  If you are finding yourself short on motivation or enthusiasm and you’re lacking the ability to focus, you’re likely doubting what you’re up to in life.  It means are you doing the right thing?  Or are you doing what you really want to do?

Or you doubt how you are going about it; meaning is this really going to work?  Because you might have been pursuing something for a while, taking a consistent action, and you’re not getting the results that you really were hoping for.  So there is doubt on how you’re about it.

You know, there’s an old fable that someone shared with me recently.  They said it was old but it was new to me but I liked it so much that I probably shared with others at least a dozen times in the last couple of weeks.  Perhaps, you’re familiar with it or perhaps you’ve been out of the loop just like me and it will brand new to you.

But it’s so applicable to our discussion today.  You see, it was once announced that the devil was going out of business.  It was having a going out of business sale.  He was making his tools available to whoever pays his price.  Now, on the night of the sale, he laid out all of his tools.  They were all attractively displayed.  A mean and menacing group of tools they were.  They was the tool of malice, the tool of hatred, the tool of envy, and jealousy, and sensuality, and the tool of deceit, and all the other implements of evil were spread out as well.  Each marked with its price.  Now, apart from the rest of the tools lay a harmless looking wedge-shaped tool.  It was obviously an older tool or maybe just a more frequently used tool.  It was hard to tell.  It wasn’t nearly as impressive as the others, at least by the look of it.  But it was priced much higher than the others and someone asked the devil what it was.  That’s the tool of doubt was his reply.  Why do you have it priced so high?  Because, reply the devil, it is more useful to me than any of the others.  I can pry open and get inside a man’s consciousness with that when I couldn’t get near him with any of the others.  And when once inside, I can use him in whatever ways suits me best.

It is so much warned because I use it with nearly everybody.  As very few people even know it belongs to me.  That was the devil’s response.  Needless to say, the devil’s sale was not a success.  He did not go out of business after all.  The price for his tools especially doubt were so high that they were never sold.  He still owns them all including his favorite, the tool of doubt.  He is using them today.

Now them oral of this fable is that you should never underestimate or undervalue the powerful influence of doubt in keeping you from doing over and in keeping you from doing over and in keeping you from living up to your potential.  Doubt is a Do Over killer.  Doubt is a dream stealer.  I mean most people are already and somewhat shaken up state when they’re starting over.  I mean they’re fragile so to speak mostly.  And that particular state can have you operating with a weakened immune system, figuratively speaking of course.  Nobody is immune to doubt but we find ourselves inordinately susceptible when we’re starting over.  Just know that in order for your Do Over to succeed, let alone just survive, know that it will have to survive doubt.

You see doubt starts out small.  It appears rational and that is actually the insidious nature of doubt.  It appears to be your friend having your best interests at heart.  It appears that it’s looking out for you.  It uses fear to keep you out of harm’s way.  It appears that it’s doing good.  It’s keeping safe from failure, keeping safe from change.

It wants to keep you in the safe zone at all times.  Doubt also causes you to think short of your abilities and to think short of your possibilities, to think short of what’s possible for you.

It wants to convince of why you either cannot do something or cannot achieve something.  Your doubt will make a case of your past and present failures as the basis for why you cannot change or should not change.

Doubt is sneaky.  It’s nasty.  It’s ugly.  The good news, however, is that doubt can be conquered.  Just simple conditioning can conquer it relatively easily.  That condition, it comes the fastest at least in my experience, that conditioning comes the fastest from one surrounding yourself with like-minded people.  Your environment will condition your thinking the fastest but be careful.  It works the other way also.

You surround yourself with negative thinkers.  You too will begin to think more negatively but you can use it in your favor.  You’ve got to be proactive about creating a productive environment.  I mean if doubt is eating at you.  You’ve got to create an empowering environment.  At the very least, seek out like-minded people.

I mean seek them out.  Don’t wait for them to show up.  I don’t want to hear any excuses either.  I mean there are clubs. There are associations.  There are online forums.  There are trade organizations.  There are hobby groups, professional groups, and church groups.  There are a bunch of places of which you can find like-minded people.  I mean even if you have to pay some sort of fee to join a group or to belong to a group.  Do it.  It’s that important.

I’m pretty sure that this website flourishes nationally but try meetup.com, m-e-e-t-u-p-.com.  It’s a social networking site that meets up offline.  They meet in person and there’s a group there.  Sometimes multiple groups for just about any possible interests that you may have.  I mean, anything.

You name it.  It can quote to extremes.  It has everything in between.  If you can’t find a group there that suits you, create one yourself.  This is your life.  Is it not worth it?  No excuses.  No excuses are allowed.  You see, you can make excuses or you can do over but you can’t do both.

So number one: interacting with like-minded people will combat doubt.  Something almost magical happens when you can connect with people that are doing what you want to do.  It brings your dreams and your ambitions into the realm of reality.  So don’t underestimate the power of a positive like-minded environment.

Number two: consume personal development material and consume it on a daily basis because of you are experiencing.  Motivation doesn’t last.  As Zig Ziglar said, “neither does bathing.”  That’s why we recommend it daily.

So, consume personal development material whether that’s through books, audios, seminars, or home study courses. I mean if it’s brand new to you, the book “Thinking Grow rich.”  Great place to start.    And gosh, I mean, it’s a great place if you’re a veteran.

Anthony Robbins is a personal favorite of mine.  His book “Awakening the Giant Within.” I’ve read it at least a half dozen times in the last four years.  And Og Mandino’s “The Greatest Salesman in the World.’  That’s another great book.  It’s a short, quick book.  Very profound.  And I do like the Love Attraction material as well, particularly when we are discussing a topic like we are today.  It’s perfect for that.  It’s perfect for conditioning that doubt out of your mind.

I just completed an extensive course on the 11 Forgotten Laws of which you can find thinkandattractsuccess.com.  It’s an affiliate of mine by the way.  I get a little from commission from that if you pick it up. But if thousands and thousands that I can promote, I choose to promote less than five.  That’s one that I do promote so you can find that at thinkandattractsuccess.com.

So those are a few of my favorites.  As you explore the world of personal development, you’ll come across your favorites as well but the point here is invest in your thinking as much as you invest in anything else.  Invest in your personal development.  It’s that important.

You know, a mentor of mine once shared with me that you’re income will never surpass your personal development.  Your bank account will never be larger than your growth so commit to it.  Riding yourself of doubt and transforming your thinking to that of one who successfully does over is merely a matter of conditioning so when in doubt, don’t.

If you absolutely must doubt something, doubt that you will fail.  That’s all I got for you today but we will resume this conversation on the next episode.  We will pick right up where we were leaving off.  We’re going to attack your motivation, your focus, and you thinking woes from every angle.  Keep trying on what I suggest just like that pair of sunglasses.  Sooner or later, preferably sooner, we will find that pair that fits.  God loves you and so do I.

I am Matt, the Do Over guy.  And I will see you next time in your Do Over.

So sorry to have left for so long.  Actually, maybe, you didn’t even notice.  Maybe I’m being a little vain but I had an intended to post this episode just today or so after the last.  However, my baby boy decided he was ready to come into the world so this is my first episode as an official father.  My son, Matheo Alejandro, was born on July 6.  He weighed 7 pounds and 13 ounces.  He is an absolute dream.  I never thought I would be the parent that would say my baby is the cutest ever.  Well, he is.  So there.

It’s funny how my life is completely transformed overnight.  I mean I woke up a new person on July 7, a brand new person.  I mean my reason for what I do or my why.  It just got so much bigger.  I mean almost instantly.  That’s a perfect place from where to start today’s episode part 2 of How To Stay Motivated.

Now if you find yourself losing motivation, which so many of you have shared with me that you are losing your motivation or you’ve frequently lose your focus.  You frequently allow negative thoughts to creep in and they hinder or they even thwart your results.

Another place to look is to revisit why, why you’re doing what you’re doing inside of your Do Over?  I mean if you’re losing enthusiasm, if you’re losing your motivation.  I mean oftentimes it can be that you don’t really like what you’re doing.  Or you forgot as to why you chose to pursue what you’re doing in the first place.

Now you don’t have to change what you’re doing but let’s go back to the basics for a minute.  Answer some of these basic questions.  If you knew you would not fail, what would you do?  Are you doing it?  If money were not an object, what would you do?  Are you doing it?  If you knew success was guaranteed, what would you do?  Are you doing it?  What is someone that you know doing that you wish you were doing?  Are you doing it?

These are the type of questions that ask yourself every 6 months or so.  It’s not the one time event.  You want to ask yourself these types of questions every 6 months or so to check in and make sure you’re on the right path.  To make sure you’re in alignment with your passion.

You know life, it’s just too short and it goes by way too fast.  And we only have one shot at it so why shouldn’t you pursue your wildest dream?  Your deepest passion?  Other people are doing it, why not you?  You know what, whenever I ask myself these questions.

I’m always reminded of that monster.com commercial.  I think it was a Super Bowl commercial a few years ago where they asked a bunch of kids what they want to be when they grew up.  And the commercial consisted of this montage of kids’ answers.  When I grow up, I want to file all day.  When I will grow up, I want to claw my way up to middle management.  I want to be replaced on a whim.  I want to have a brown nose.  I want to be a Yes man.  I want to be a Yes woman.  Yes, sir.  Coming, sir.  Anything for a raise, Sir.  When I grow up, I want to be underappreciated.  I want to be paid less for doing the same job.  I want to be forced into early retirement.  I mean those are the alternatives to pursuing your passion.

And yes, those are all business related but it’s very easy to word those in a way that apply in every aspect of your life.  For example, when I grow up, I want to weigh 300 pounds.  I want to live the best years in my life in an abusive relationship.  I want to be taken for granted by my spouse.  I want all of my dresses to make me look fat.  I want to have a circle of friends who laugh at me every time I share my dreams.  I want to spend all of my free time watching reality TV.  I want to lose my breath every time I climb a single flight of stairs.  I want to stay inside the house because I’m embarrassed who I let myself go.

I could keep going.  And maybe I hit your situation right on the head and maybe I missed it.  But you know exactly what it is for you.  You’re probably hoping I wasn’t going to say it.  I mean how could you stay motivated or focused if that’s what you’re experiencing if you have any of those types of thoughts going through your head.

The point here is not your problem or challenge or your dilemma.  The point here is you have a choice.  There is very little in life that you have to do or that you’re forced to do.  You have a choice.  God blessed you with free will.  And if you’re dealing with anything in life that is less than desirable, ask yourself why.  Why is that?

And then ask yourself, how did you contribute to it?  You know I don’t care if it’s a 100% someone else’s fault or something else’s fault.  How did you contribute to it?  There’s no power or resolution in pointing fingers.  There’s no power in complaining.  There’s no resolution in blaming others or holding grudges.  What have you learned?  How can you avoid it in the future? That’ an empowering question.  That’s taking responsibility for your situation.  That’s taking responsibility for your future.  That’s a question that will actually make a difference.  What have you learned and how can you avoid it in the future?  But most importantly, how can you turn it around?  How can you pursue that which excites you and how can you do it and enjoy the process?

The brain, I promise, the brain is the most powerful computer in the world.  It will answer any question asked of it.  The good news is you own one free and clear.  It’s yours.  Nobody can take it away from you so my request for you is to start using it as opposed to it using you.  You know, if you let negative thoughts create then, if you entertain a pessimistic resign or cynical attitude or thought then your brain is using you.

Take control and start using it.  It belongs to you.  You don’t belong to it.  This is how you start using it.  You start using it by asking questions or the right questions and empowering questions.  You keep asking it questions until you start getting answers.  Keep pushing.  Keep asking it and don’t settle for I-don’t-know-was-an-answer.  You do know.

If you really are convinced, you don’t know the answer to whatever question you are seeking answer, ask yourself.  If I did know, what would the answer be?  Do this with integrity.  Do it with honesty meaning be honest with yourself.  Do it with authenticity.

Speak or write down the exact words that come to your mind.  I mean the exact words that are going through your head when you ask the question speak them out or write them down.

Be completely transparent with yourself.  Be vulnerable with yourself.  Do that with these two questions.  This is part of your homework.  Here’s the first question: what would I do if I knew success was guaranteed?  What would I do if I knew success was guaranteed?  What would you choose to do?  That’s the first question.

The second question: how can I turn my life around so that I’m pursuing the answer to question number one and enjoy the process?  That’s the second question.  How can I turn my life around so that I’m pursuing the answer to question number one and enjoy the process?

So there are two questions here.  The first, what would I do if I knew success was guaranteed?  Spend some time with this.  Don’t blow it off.  I mean really think about it and answer it honestly.  Don’t use any filters.  Don’ let your thoughts of what you believe you can or cannot do get in the way.  There’s no room for those thoughts here in this exercise.  Success is guaranteed.  Remember?  So that’s question number one.  What would I do if I knew success was guaranteed?

The second question: how can I turn my life around so that I’m pursuing the answer to question number one and enjoy the process?  How can I turn my life around so that I’m pursuing the answer to question number one and enjoy the process?  You need to address every single element in that question.

First, how can I turn my life around so that I’m pursuing the answer to question number one and enjoy the process?  Now I want you to answer that question a little differently though.  I want you to come up with 10 answers not just one answer but 10.  If you can’t come up with 10, I don’t want to hear it.  Yes, you can.  I don’t care if the answers start getting outlandish either.  Your answers can be totally absurd.  I just need you to come up with 10.  I mean if one of your answers has to do with standing on the corner with the clipboard soliciting a survey that passes by so be it.

Oftentimes your 10th, 9th, or 8th answer will start to look like that.  They’ll start to look a little absurd.  It doesn’t matter just complete the exercise and come up with 10 answers. If you can come up with more, great!  But at least 10 answers.

You see what this does is it gets your creative juices flowing.  You start coming up with answers and perspectives that you have never come up with unless you allowed yourself some freedom to be inside of an exercise like this.  You know how it goes.  If you can continue to do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you always got.

So allow yourself some freedom, allow yourself to be different inside this exercise.  Don’t take on this exercise the way you’ve always done.  Don’t come up with 5 answers and think it’s good enough.  Don’t blow it off and say I’ll get to it later.  Do something different.  I want you to think differently around this because you want different results.  I want you to be a different person.  I want you to be the person that has what you want.

This exercise will be to transform your being.  Once you started transforming your being, I want you to start transforming your doing.  Once you have your list of ten, I want you to start at your number one answer and do it.  Being reasonable, do it.  No fear.  The only thing to fear here is fear itself.  That’s not a cliché.  It’s not an overused quote.  Perhaps, it is overused but just because you’ve heard countless times doesn’t make it any less true.

There’s nothing out there in the pursuit of your dreams that is going to kill you.  This is your life.  Life is an action sport.  It’s a contact sport.  Start working your way through this list, taking action.  As long as you do this, here’s what you can expect. Answers 1 through 6 will probably not get the result you’re looking for, maybe, but likely not.  Not until you start getting to answers 7, 8, or 9.  I mean you start taking action whatever you came up with your list that number 7,8, and 9 will you start experiencing what I call miracles.

I’m not necessarily speaking of miracles of the spiritual nature.  I mean the sky is not going to open and God is going to descend in places, hand on your head, and bless you with success.  I mean, He’s been known to do it before but that’s not the type of miracle I’m talking about.  I ‘m talking about miracles defined as unexpected events, unexpected situations, stuff you didn’t know that you didn’t know will start to reveal itself.

You’ll being to experience breakthroughs, epiphanies.  You’ll being experience “ah-ha” moments you will be traveling that road.  And typically, at least on my personal experiences and experiences of those that I’ve coached.  Somewhere between answers 6 or 8, you’ll get the results or at least a very major breakthrough in achieving that result you’re seeking.

The miraculous part of it or the part of it that never ceases to amaze me, it will come from an answer or source that wasn’t even on your original list of ten answers.  What you learn is it’s not getting the right answer on your list of ten that’s important.  It’s simply having ten answers of which you can take action on.

The magic is in the action not the answers.  Without action, nothing moves.  Without action, nothing happens.  Favor is attracted to action.  Wealth is attracted to action.  People are attracted to action.  Luck is attracted to action.  Miracles are attracted to action.  The point is take action.  Take action and stuff happens.

Now if you’re not completely fired up right now and ready to get started, I want you to go back and answer question number 1 again.  What would I do if I knew success was guaranteed?  Or even what would you do if you knew you would not fail?  Maybe it will be the same.  Maybe it will be a new answer.

But now I want you to take this exercise in a different direction.  Ask yourself why.  Why would you choose that if you knew success was guaranteed?  What’s in it for you?  Ask yourself why at least three times.  For example, if your answer to what would I do if I knew success was guaranteed?  Or something like that I want to start my own catering business.

Ask yourself.  Why would I start my own catering business?  Well, I like to cook and people like my cooking.  Okay.  Why you want to cook for people who like your cooking?  I want to cook for people who like my cooking because they would enjoy and pay for it.  Okay.  Let’s ask why again.  Why do you want to cost people enjoyment through your cooking and be paid for it?  Because I could quit my job and provide for my family doing something I like doing.

Now if you can keep going, keep going but ask yourself why at least 3 times.  And when you cant’ go any further.  Ask yourself how would that make me feel?  I’ll be liberated and satisfied in life.  I wouldn’t feel stressed and I would enjoy my free time more.

You see it’s not really pursuing our passions that we all want.  It’s the way pursuing our passions will make us feel.  That’s what we want.  It’s the feeling that we want.  And it’s staying in touch with that feeling that keeps us motivated.  That’s the route of your motivation.  That’s the route of your focus.  That’s what keeps the negative thoughts at bay.

You see human beings are motivated by either the pursuit of pleasure or the fleeing from pain.   They’re moving towards pleasure or away from pain.  Typically it’s a combination of the two but most of the population it’s the fleeing from pain that really motivates.  So, you should know by now why you want what you want.

I use the pursuit of catering business as an example.  But insert your why then everything applies just the same.  As well as knowing why you want what you want.  You should also now be back in touch with how you will feel once you’ve achieved what you want.  But as the fleeing from pain is a bigger motivator for most, I want you to ask yourself.  I want you to be aware of what’s the alternative?  How will you feel if you don’t pursue your why?  What is that going to cost you?  What would your life look like in 6 months if you don’t take action?  If you don’t turn it around, if you keep doing what you’re currently doing.  What will life look like in 6 months?  What will it look like in a year if you don’t turn it around?  If you don’t take action?  If you continue to do what you’re currently doing?

How about 5 years?  How about 10 years?  You see, 10 years it might seem a long way off then in some respects, it is but you remember where you were on 9/11.  Do you remember where you were when you first images of the twin towers collapse?  Keep that in your head.  Remember where you were, who you were with, what you’re doing.  Put yourself back there.   Now if I had asked you then where you see yourself in 10 years, what would your answer have been?

It’s been 10 years.  Now would your answer then and where you are today match up?  It’s okay if it doesn’t.  You’ve got a second chance.  But decades are big blocks of time.  You don’t have an unlimited supply.  You see when it comes to decades; people completely underestimate what they can accomplish in that decade.  They have no idea what’s really available to them inside of a decade, inside 10 years.  But the trap is that they overestimate what they can do in a single year.  Don’t fall into that trap.  I mean anything worth anything takes some time.  Don’t fall into that trap thinking that you can get started next month or next year or I’ll get started someday.  That someday syndrome can quickly turn into a decade.  You get to a point that some of us sooner than others that you won’t be able to make up for lost time.  So when would now be a good time to get started?  I mean if you don’t, what’s the alternative?  You see 10 years is going to pass.  What do you decide to take action or not?  So what’s the alternative if you don’t take action?  Will you too be crawling your way up to middle management?  Will you find yourself underpaid and underappreciated?

I mean just a few days ago I watched an online interview with Jillian Michaels.  He is one of the fitness trainers from the TV show “Biggest Losers.”  And Marlow Thomas, she’s got a little website and she’s conducting the interview.  During that interview, Marlow Thomas revealed that the most common issues her readers and subscribers share is their feeling of regret.  Regret of not pursuing their childhood dreams.

It cost me to pause because it’s really sad.  You see regret is essentially a pain of which there is no fear.  But it’s a pain that doesn’t show up and tell us too late.  You don’t know it’s manifesting.  It appears as comfort initially.  That’s the dangerous part but later shows up extreme discomfort.

You know, people who chose comfort first typically end up uncomfortable.  So get out of your comfort zone and start taking action on what it is that you really want.  You know, because conversely the same is true.  People who chose discomfort are people who get out of their comfort zone actually end up comfortable.

I share all of these with you because your biggest motivator can be your why.  That’s the foundation of your motivation.  That’s how you stay motivated is staying in touch with your why.

As I mentioned at the top of the show, my why just got all a whole bigger as I welcomed my baby boy into the world last week.  Now I’ve already noticed a new sense of enthusiasm around my work.  It’s not a manufactured sense either.  That’s why I want you to get in touch with feelings that you’re going to experience when you achieve your why because it’s those feelings that make up it authentic.  And remove it from that realm of manufactured.

My why is so much bigger and this calling me into taking action and you have one too.  If you don’t know what it is, take your time to find it.  It’s that important.  Set aside some time and you lose your brain.  Stop allowing it to use you.

So what’s your why?  That’s your motivation.  Once you know, that’s how you stay motivated.  Stay in touch with your why.  I shared with you at the end that consequences were all turned off into putting off.  Some of us are motivated by our why.  Some of us are motivated by the fear of never experiencing our why.  So your homework, use your brain.  Answer these 2 questions.  First question: question number 1, what would I do if I knew success was guaranteed?  The second question: how can I turn my life around so that I’m pursuing the answer to question number 1 and enjoy the process?

I gave you very specific instructions on how to answer those questions.  Maybe this episode is worth a second listen.  So that’s it for today.  Actually, that’s enough for today.  We’ve covered a lot.  It is simple what we covered.  It is easy to do this homework but because it’s simple and it’s easy to do.  It’s easy not to do also.  Don’t underestimate the importance of your why.  The only thing, the only thing that separates you and the person who has everything that you want are time and the size of their why.  The homework is to enable you to find yours.

Now, I’m going continue on motivation focus next episode as well.  As motivation comes and goes, it ebbs and flows.  It’s invaluable to have multiple approaches and strategies to see to it that your motivation comes more than it goes.  Remember it’s like bathing, that’s why we do it daily.  God loves you and so do I.
