Power of Thoughts – An Underestimated Step to Producing Results

Your thinking will creates your words, you words will create your actions, your actions will create your habits, your habits will create your character, and your character will create your destiny. As you can see, it all begins with your thinking. This is how thoughts become things. The power of thoughts is grossly underestimated, and often times flat-out ignored, when it comes to producing results.

So, what to think about?

So, what to think about?

Most of what we think about is, shamefully, negative. It would seem by the very nature of being human, we think about the past and what we should’ve or could’ve done; or we think about the problems and challenges we’re currently experiencing; or we think about the future consequences of our past actions. Certainly, there are exceptions, but we manifest what we think about most of the time. The power of thoughts is not one to be taken lightly.

If human nature has us consumed with negative thinking, the power of thoughts is working against us. We can turn the power of thoughts in our favor by being intentional with our thoughts as opposed to letting nature take its course. A mentor of mine shared with me years ago a simple discipline that always redirects my thinking from negative to positive. My mentor said to me, “Matt, stop focusing on what is happening and focus on what you want to have happen.”  It ignites the power of thoughts, positive thoughts, for me every time.

Although the above discipline occurs as a simple “cure-all” for whatever thinking is ailing me, I would be remiss if I didn’t disclose that the power of thoughts is powerless if not followed by a correlate action. Your thinking gives meaning and direction to the mind utilizing a secondary power… the power of emotion. Emotions activate and cause us to take action correlate with our thinking. Action produces results. Results produce Success. Success produces confidence. Confidence leads to more good thinking… and around and around it goes.

Do Over Tip: Stop focusing on what is happening, and focus on what you want to have happen.
